As a County Commissioner, I also serve as Chair of the Montgomery County Board of Elections.
Montgomery County and communities around the country employ hard-working election professionals year-round - to make sure that when elections are conducted, they are done so professionally and fairly.
Their work has never been more important.
And, before 2020, I could never have imagined that work would be controversial, that election workers would be subject to attacks and vitriol, and that the very foundation of our democracy would be called into question.
I will do everything in my power to make sure that elections are conducted securely, that all eligible voters are able to cast a ballot, and that their vote is appropriately counted.
In May, I was appointed to serve as a co-chair of NewDeal's Democracy Working Group, which will explore ways to protect our democracy from attacks on voting rights, to ensure everyone who is eligible to vote is able to cast their ballot and that all votes are counted fairly. I look forward to sharing more with you about this work in the weeks and months ahead.
I also recently recorded a podcast for NewDeal about this work as well as the exciting things happening in Montgomery County and my experience serving the people of this great community. I hope you'll take a listen.
As I continue this work, your support could not be more important to me. Please consider a contribution of any amount today to help me continue my work on behalf of our County and to help elect Democrats up and down the ballot.
